About
About Insuriam
An education-first insurance platform for India — the Varsity for insurance.
What we are
Insuriam.com is a free, evergreen educational publisher covering Indian insurance. We publish long-form guides, a glossary of 500+ insurance terms, step-by-step claim walk-throughs, and calculators that produce indicative educational estimates — not live quotes.
We cover four insurance lines most relevant to Indian households: health, term life, motor, and travel. For every product category — term, endowment, money-back, ULIP, child plan, whole life, return-of-premium — we publish a neutral explainer of how the product works, what the charges and features are, and how to evaluate fit against your own needs. We do not editorialise for or against any product; the reader decides.
What we are not
We are not licensed by IRDAI as a broker, agent, or web aggregator. Therefore:
- We do not show live premium quotes from specific insurers.
- We do not capture personal information to pass to insurers for sale.
- We do not compare specific branded policies with live prices.
- We do not recommend a specific policy to a specific reader.
- We do not run “get a callback” or expert-call lead forms.
If a regulator, reader, or journalist spots us behaving as an intermediary, please tell us. The line between education and solicitation is exactly where our editorial independence lives.
Our mission
Millions of Indian households buy insurance they do not fully understand. Our mission is to make the mechanics of every insurance product, claim process, and regulation transparent — using public data, IRDAI circulars, policy documents, and worked examples in rupees.
We earn our revenue from ads and, in later phases, from labelled referral relationships with IRDAI-licensed partners. That separation — educational content on one side, clearly-marked commercial links on the other — is what lets us write evenly about every product category without a sales incentive pulling the copy in one direction.
Our editorial principles
- Education over sales. Every article is written to help you decide for yourself, not to push a product.
- Evergreen over news. We publish concepts that stay true for years, not policy-launch announcements.
- Citations over claims. Regulatory statements cite IRDAI sources; numerical examples use explicit formulas.
- No dark patterns. No false urgency, no confirm-shaming, no nagging pop-ups. See our compliance page.
- Transparent commercial relationships. Affiliate links are labelled. Sponsored content, if any, is clearly identified.
Who writes this
The Insuriam editorial team draws from personal finance writers, former insurance product managers, and policyholder interviews. Articles pass an internal review for accuracy against IRDAI circulars and current Indian tax law, and a compliance scan against our banned-vocabulary list before publication.
Sister publications
Insuriam is part of a small family of education-first sites. Our sister publication EquitiesIndia.com does the same for Indian stocks, mutual funds, and taxation. Articles cross-link where useful — for example, our explainers on tax-saving insurance sections link to EquitiesIndia's Section 80C and ELSS guides.
